Install Extolly
Download the installer, get past the Windows warning, and install Extolly on the computer that runs Tally. Also how to repair or uninstall it.
5 minutes
Before you start
Install Extolly on the computer where TallyPrime runs. Extolly talks to Tally on that same computer, so it cannot be installed somewhere else and pointed at it.
You need Windows 10 or 11. You do not need an administrator password: Extolly installs into your own Windows account.
Download and install
- Go to the download page and press Download for Windows. The file is called
Extolly-for-Tally-Setupfollowed by the version number. - Open the file from your Downloads folder.
Windows shows a blue box headed Windows protected your PC. Press More info, then Run anyway.
- The installer has three screens: Welcome, Install and Finish. Press Next or Install on each.
- On the last screen leave Open Extolly for Tally now ticked and press Finish.
Extolly opens and asks which Tally company to read. Carry on with Connect Tally.
What the installer puts on your computer
- The app, in your Windows profile.
- A shortcut on the desktop and in the Start menu, both called Extolly for Tally.
- A small icon beside the clock. Extolly keeps reading Tally from there after you close its window.
Open it again later
Use the desktop shortcut, the Start menu, or the icon beside the clock. Closing the window does not stop Extolly: it keeps running beside the clock so your figures stay up to date. To stop it completely, right-click the icon beside the clock and choose Quit.
Install a newer version
Download the newer installer and run it. It installs over the version you have. Your settings and the copy of your books are kept.
Repair
If the app will not start or behaves oddly, run the installer for the version you already have. It notices Extolly is installed and offers three choices:
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open Extolly for Tally | Starts the app. Nothing is changed. |
| Repair | Puts the app's files back as they were when it was installed. Your settings and the copy of your books are kept. |
| Uninstall | Removes Extolly from this computer. Nothing in Tally is touched. |
Uninstall
- Open Windows Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps. Find Extolly for Tally and choose Uninstall. Or run the installer again and choose Uninstall.
- The uninstaller asks: Also remove the copy of your books and the settings that Extolly for Tally keeps on this computer?
- Choose No if you may install it again: your books will be there when you do. Choose Yes to remove everything.
If something goes wrong
- Nothing happens when you open the file. Your browser may have blocked the download. Look in its downloads list for a "keep" option.
- "Another program on this computer is using port 4319." Extolly needs that port for its dashboard. Close the other program, or restart the computer, and open Extolly again.
- Anything else: see Troubleshooting.
